Who we are
On October 8th 2023, Adaptive Maui, a local company that promotes accessibility through adaptive recreation, got together with other members of the community including Kelea Foundation, to begin caring for and advocating for victims of the wildfires living with disabilities.
From day two, we recognized that many people lost their mobility and health management devices. and would need support replacing things like wheelchairs, walkers, bath chairs and more. We first began to collect and centralize resources from within our own community, collaborating and organizing with other small loan closests and community members. Then we received support from Oahu and the outer islands, sending over new and used equipment to help us meet dire needs. To date we have received over 50 pallets of donated items and served over 250 families.
The goal of this site is to create a centralized system to distribute this donated equipment. Each persons needs for equipment widely varies. For this reason, we have put together a database for those in need to browse and select items they need.
We continue to collaborate and find solutions to some of the biggest challenges that face those living with disabilities in Maui County.
